Born into the illustrious Ariyapillai family of S. Pudur village, near Kumbakonam in Thanjavur District, Tamil Nadu. Like a great banyan tree, he was the pride of his lineage. His grandfather Theyvanai Thiru Ariyapillai and father Thambusami Pillai were respected zamindars of the village.

Lost his father Thambusami Pillai (known as Periyappa) at a young age. Raised with love by his stepmother Meenakshi Ammal and uncle Muthukrishna Pillai. Despite the early loss, he grew into a strong leader shaped by the values of his ancestral household.

Kaliyamurthy's life was a tapestry of selfless service — from managing vast agricultural lands and supporting hundreds of farming families, to renovating ancient temples, leading the village cooperative bank, heading the Parents-Teachers Association, and being an active member of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. He was not just a zamindar by title, but a true leader who earned the love and respect of every soul in S. Pudur and surrounding villages. His passing at around age 70 left an irreplaceable void. As his children wrote: "Your life itself was our lesson, your words our scripture."

Never missed a Saturday visit to the Uppiliyappan Temple. Despite thousands of tasks, this sacred routine was unbroken — a testament to his deep devotion.
Evenings spent resolving village disputes, attending community events, and counseling families. His home was always open to visitors seeking guidance.
Known for his iconic Ambassador car, he would drive across villages to attend to agricultural work, bank duties, and temple matters — a familiar sight on the roads of Kumbakonam.

Celebrated his 60th birthday (Shashtiabdapoorthi) — a grand milestone honored by the entire village with traditional ceremonies and blessings.
Departed at around age 70, leaving behind a legacy that spans generations. The memorial book "Appa Enum Mandhirachol" was published on 25-02-2022 in his loving memory by his children.
Worked like a rising sun for agriculture. Managed paddy and sugarcane fields, achieving record yields. Walked barefoot through fields wearing his signature rubber slippers. His dedication to farming was unparalleled — he treated the earth as divine.
Served as President of the Parents-Teachers Association for decades. Believed deeply that education was the greatest inheritance. Maintained close ties with educators and supported school development in the village.
An active and respected member of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). Known for fearless advocacy, he traveled over 100 kilometers once just to hear the party's call. Earned respect across all political boundaries.
A leader without enemies. Transcended caste and religious barriers — he supported Maatha temples, Ayyanar temples, and Amman temples alike. All four streets of S. Pudur village respected and loved him equally.
Used his influence and resources to bring development to S. Pudur. From infrastructure improvements to supporting families during weddings and festivals, his generosity knew no bounds.
Personally oversaw and supported countless weddings in the community. As the eldest brother figure, he arranged marriages for many families, treating every villager's joy as his own.
Led the complete renovation of this ancient Shiva-Amman temple in S. Pudur. Organized the grand Kumbabishekam ceremony with the participation of the entire village. Raised funds totaling over Rs. 89,474 through community donations and personal contributions.
The ancient Shiva temple had fallen into disrepair. PAT R. Kaliyamurthy took it upon himself to restore it to its former glory. Engaged traditional artisans, coordinated with temple authorities, and ensured proper Agamic traditions were followed.
Beyond the main Shiva temple, he supported renovations of the Ayyanar temple, Amman temple, and Maatha temple in and around S. Pudur. His secular spirit ensured every place of worship received care.
Renovation records show contributions from S. Govindharaajan (Engineer), A. Ramasami Pillai, K. Santhanakrishnan, R. Kanagaraj, Sasiraamanojothiar, G. Meiyappan, and many more villagers — a true community effort led by P.A.T.K.
As President of the S. Pudur Village Cooperative Society, PAT R. Kaliyamurthy transformed the institution into a beacon of hope for farming families. The cooperative provided agricultural loans at fair rates, purchased farming equipment, and helped farmers get better prices for their produce.
He worked alongside N.V. Ramakrishnan (Dip in Law & Co-op), G.B. Thirugnaanam, and R. Pugazhenthi to manage the society. Under his leadership, the cooperative society became a model for rural banking in the Thiruvidaimarudur region.
